Visiting Authors
Jack Gantos, September 23-24
FDR is fortunate to have a number of authors visiting this year. Our first visiting author was Jack Gantos. Mr. Gantos has written over 40 books and spent two days speaking to our entire student body. His stories were hilarious and he even managed to teach us a thing or two!
Mary Dodson Wade, Thursday, Oct. 29
FDR is happy to welcome Mary Dodson Wade, a prolific writer of non-fiction and biography, who will present to 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades late in October. She has just published a graphic biography of Columbus. Stop by to preview one of her books, or check it out before she arrives. Many of her books are also available for sale in the library. See one of the ladies at the desk.
Marie Arana, December 7
Pervian-American author Marie Arana will be at FDR on December 7 to speak with IB Language A English students. Ms. Arana’s books include American Chica, Cellophane, Lima Nights, and The Writing Life: Writers on how they Think and Work. Ms. Arana will address the students at 2:20 in the Little Theater. The event is open to parents, but we ask that you please book a place through the library. Her books are available for purchase in the library and a book signing will follow the presentation.
