Plastic is not Fantastic / El Plástico no es Fantástico
Dear FDR Community,
A group of concerned High School students, working closely with the Green Team, has led the effort in banning the sale of bottled water on our campus. As this group of students educated their fellow students and teachers, we all reached the conclusion that we needed to take action and stop selling bottled water. By refilling reusable water bottles at school, we can eliminate the need for selling one-use plastic water bottles. After all, the first “R” in “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” is Reduce! By reducing our consumption of plastic, we’re positively impacting our environment. When students return in February, no bottled water will be sold at FDR.

In preparation for all our students refilling their water bottles at school, additional water fountains and “filling stations” will be installed during the break. Our newly constructed water filtering system ensures that the water coming out of our fountains and faucets continues to meet the highest quality standards.

Estimada Comunidad del Roosevelt,
Un grupo de alumnos de High School que trabaja en forma estrecha con el Green Team, ha liderado los esfuerzos para cesar la venta de agua embotellada en nuestro campus. Los alumnos también educaron a sus compañeros y profesores y todos llegamos a la conclusión de que tenemos que tomar medidas y parar la venta de agua embotellada. Al rellenar las botellas reutilizables, podemos eliminar la necesidad de vender botellas de plástico. Después de todo, la primera “R” de “Reducir, Reutilizar, Reciclar” es Reducir! Al reducir nuestro consumo de plástico, estamos impactando nuestro entorno de manera positiva. Cuando los alumnos regresen a clases en febrero, no se venderá agua embotellada en el Colegio Roosevelt.

Durante las próximas vacaciones, se instalarán fuentes de agua adicionales y “estaciones de rellenado” para que todos nuestros alumnos rellenen sus botellas de agua en el colegio. Nuestro nuevo sistema de filtración de agua nos asegura que el agua que sale de nuestras fuentes y grifos continúa cumpliendo con los más altos estándares de calidad.
